At Kelmarsh Hall and gardens we have the perfect space to host your special party, from christenings, birthday parties and afternoon teas –
we can cater the day’s celebrations around you!
We have intimate spaces for just a few guests, or more spacious fine rooms for the larger parties. Our Hall can offer a totally exclusive country house experience within the Saloon, Great Hall and Ballroom. Whilst our restored Orangery offers a beautifully unique and picturesque venue for smaller occasions. Our beautiful gardens can also be incorporated into your day, with garden games on the tea terrace or strolls through the woodland walks.

The Great Hall
Give your guests an impressive welcome they’ll be sure to remember in our Great Hall. Painted in Lancaster pink, the Great Hall is a truly welcoming place, with a cosy lit fire, pretty florals and the comfy sofas – you really can make yourself right at home!
The Great Hall can be used as your welcome drink area, with space for 100 guests for a standing reception.
Personalise the space on our Great Hall desk with photos, a welcome sign or card box too!
The Saloon
The beautiful Saloon painted in a Soul of Blue is a peaceful space to enjoy a drinks reception, afternoon tea, or a meal. With stunning views of the surrounding parkland, Kelmarsh really does feel like your home for the day.
Used by Nancy Lancaster as her entertaining room, the Saloon has always played host to lavish parties and cocktail evenings.
The baby grand piano is the perfect addition to your event and we have a number of recommended pianists that can make your day extra special.
If the piano isn’t for you, we welcome other live accoustic music in the Saloon, or have a music sound system you can play your own playlist.
The saloon is a perfect space for smaller parties on one large table – or it can seat up to 70 guests on round tables.
The Ballroom
The largest of our available party spaces is the Ballroom. Built as an extention to the Hall in 1873 by Mr Naylor as a lavish ballroom for his daughters.
The Ballroom boasts beautiful views of the Kelmarsh parkland and ornamental lake, along with the pretty tea terrace which lights up in the evening.
With elegant mirrors, intricate woodwork and a beautifully detailed fireplace, the Ballroom is a special place to host your meal or dance the night away on the wooden sprung dancefloor.
The Ballroom can hold 100 guests seated on either banquet or round tables, and can host 150 standing reception for parties.
The Orangery
Located nearby to the historic gardens, The Orangery is the perfect space for more intimate events. With a maximum of 40 guests, the Orangery is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon tea, a delicious meal or a drinks and canapes reception.
The Orangery has quick access to the historic gardens, so you can incorporate these into your day. We also include garden games, so you can utilise the lawn area too!

At Kelmarsh we have a range of different activities that we can offer for groups to give you and your guests a memorable day, including:
Flower Arranging sessions – from Posy Pop Up’s to seasonal Wreath Making our in-house team can give you a relaxing and peaceful afternoon of floral arrangements with flowers cut from the historic gardens.
Wellbeing Activities – we are delighted to work with local practitioners offering different wellbeing activities for your events, whether it’s yoga or pilates’ on the back lawn, or Qi Gong and sound bathes in the Ballroom. The historic gardens are also the perfect place to escape the busy everyday and spend an afternoon relaxing, journaling or bare foot walks.
Evening Garden Tours and Visits – take a stroll in the historic gardens at Kelmarsh with our head gardener on a private tour. Or, if you want to take the gardens at your own leisure we can also offer you an exclusive use evening visit for you and your party. Pair the gardens with some nibbles and glass of fizz – and what a truly special evening.
Pottery Painting – we welcome the lovely Emma from Paint and Glaze for bespoke pottery painting classes – perfect for corporate event activities, or families of all ages!
We are also able to hire in other specialists to Kelmarsh whether it be for pizza making, a private chef, watercolours in the garden, willow making or art classes, we can cater for all!
