There can often be a misconception that weddings are seasonal; although we do have a high and low season here at Kelmarsh, we welcome weddings throughout the whole year. With our stunning grounds and historic house, we have so much to offer for those winter weddings. Not only does the house have a wonderfully cosy feel when the sun sets, but we also have the space both indoors and out to make your winter wedding just as you’d imagine.
Winter Wedding Photo Spots
We all know that the British weather can be very unpredictable, but you can rest assured that we’re always prepared. Our historic gardens are just as beautiful throughout the winter months, and we are very lucky to have so many photograph opportunities within the house if you’re unable to get the chance to stroll through our gardens. As we discussed in one of our previous blogs, the staircase is a wonderful place to capture the brides dress, get different angles of the couple, and capture a first look. We also have a number of historic rooms that we can open up for our newly weds to have their couple shots.
Making Yourself at Home
We like to ensure that Kelmarsh Hall feels like your home for your special day. The Great Hall is a wonderful place for your guests to sit comfy, relax and mingle with one another. One of the most talked of features in The Great Hall is the grand fireplace which we love to light throughout the winter months. When the fire is roaring it truly does give your guests a cosy feel to the Hall, a wonderful touch when it’s cold or raining outside.
Outdoor Entertainment
Just because you’re having a winter wedding, it doesn’t mean that you can’t still make use of our grounds. The South Steps are the perfect spot for entertaining outdoors, you’re more than welcome to hire in some heaters to pair with our garden furniture. A trend that we saw last winter was roasting marshmallows, laying out blankets for guests and setting up a gazebo for everyone to enjoy our garden games and take in the lovely view of our ornamental lake.
Catering for a Winter Wedding
Catering is such a big part of your day and something that your guests will most likely remember. We are so lucky to be partnered with our sole caterers Portfolio Events Ltd, who offer a large range of packages. With choices ranging from house canapes to fillet steak, you can tailor your food options to suit your wedding theme. A popular dish served throughout the winter months is a good old roast dinner, perfect for when it’s a little bit colder outside and your guests know they can sit by the fire and let their food go down before the dancing begins.
